Birdman. Wow.
Went to see Birdman last night, had heard it was good. It was fascinating! IMDb’s one line description was:
“A washed-up actor who once played an iconic superhero must overcome his ego and family trouble as he mounts a Broadway play in a bid to reclaim his past glory.”
It was edgy, frenetic at times. The cinematography was unique; the camera views really “in your face”…almost inducing vertigo. The drum score that ran throughout maintained a slightly uncomfortable thread through the film. I turned to my date a few times with my jaw dropped, my face showing a “what the heck???” expression. Great performances by Michael Keaton, as well as Edward Norton, Emma Stone and Naomi Watts. I would highly recommend it.
Kind of an unorthodox movie to see on a very sweet first date. Interesting contrast: this tense, nervous movie….sitting beside a lovely, sensitive man that I’m just getting to know. What fun.
